We all have a kink in our makeup. Some of us relegate it to a dark, obscure corner of our mind, afraid to express our innermost secrets and desires, while others proudly embrace and celebrate whatever’s inside!
Australian Pop Erotic Artist Anita Nevar known for her bold stance on creative sexual expression understands how it feels to hide behind masks, alienated from her true identity, and imprisoned by shame. Raised in a religious doomsday cult and cut off from mainstream society, she was forced to inhabit a world where sexual repression and domestic violence were daily norms.
Driven by a desire for personal freedom and unable to continue her submission to a creed that contradicted everything she believed in, Anita escaped cult life and entered the alien world of secular society, where her deep exploration into sexuality and the pursuit of things that excited her soul began.
With her suppressed creative passions from childhood reignited, as a self-taught artist she was a natural, and with her instinct fuelled to probe the boundaries, she was unstoppable! Gravitating toward subjects that radiated subversive energy and transgression to denounce the forces of oppression, eventually, Anita through her own transformation, changed how she viewed her art; not as a cudgel for attacking her enemies and not simply as a means of self-expression, rather as a vehicle for inspiring others to liberate themselves, by facing and conquering fear, shame, and societal prejudices.
Anita’s artwork, recognized for the way it inhabits a space with its risqué and rapturous style that ingrains itself within your psyche, is a celebration of the beauty of individual kinks, sexualities, and gender identities, and the power that comes from being who you truly are and expressing it without apology.
Her artworks seen hanging in gallery exhibitions internationally have also been featured at various venues celebrating sex-positive diversity, including Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras, Oz Kink Festival, in the head office of Lovehoney ‘The Sexual Happiness People’, and at Sexpo Sexuality and Lifestyle Expo where she became the resident erotic artist nationally. In addition, her work was chosen to furnish the walls of the reality TV show Big Brother and she also appeared on the UK TV series Frisky Business.
Anita’s original paintings, fearless in expression and works of precision in form and symmetry, speak to the viewer in a unique way that stems from her extraordinary background, including her furious and deeply creative effort to break free from the shackles of intolerance. As an ally of the LGBTQI+ community and with her love for kink and the queer arts, her work exudes pride, love, and big-hearted acceptance; and it’s no coincidence that these feelings are contagious as her work is coveted and collected by audacious art lovers worldwide.
"Everyone deserves the basic human right to be their true selves. I understand how it feels to be afraid, shamed, and unable to express myself. I found my way through sexual repression, religious oppression and abuse, to emerge a bold, fierce artist on a mission to sexually empower the world through artistic expression. There is beauty in us all. Celebrate your uniqueness and kinks. Be who you want to be and love who you want to love… No apologies!”. Anita
